You may consider it ridiculous to consider using hypnosis as a means to bring about weight loss, but don’t dismiss the idea until you’ve read the facts.

Hypnosis for weight loss can and does work for many people. It is not a magic wand that you wave over someone who is obese and the pounds melt away. Hypnosis bypasses the conscience mind to get to the subconscious mind to influence it thoughts that will help the overeater to stop overeating or the sedentary person to start exercising.

Hypnosis achieves this feat through deep relaxation.

The hypnotist leads the overweight person into a deep, relaxing state of mind. In this state the mind becomes vulnerable to suggestions and they are more likely to stick. The conscious mind acts as a guard to the subconscious mind to protect the mind from constantly forgetting what it has learned. This protection keeps us habitually doing what we’ve learned before so that we won’t have to relearn to walk, talk, move or think all over again every time.

Even though that’s great news for most of our learned habits it’s not such great news when we have put bad habits on autopilot such as overeating or eating the wrong things. Bad eating habits are as deeply ingrained into our subconscious as driving a car. The mind fights just as hard to protect bad habits as it does good habits. It is always working to stay in its comfort zone.

Hypnosis for weight loss is used to plant healthier thoughts about food and exercise into the mind. It is a scientific approach that has proven to work for weight loss as well as many other problems.

You will not suddenly drop 50 pounds because of hypnosis nor will all of your tendencies for overeating or cravings for the wrong kinds of food go away instantly. What it does is help the overweight sufferer to change the programming of your subconscious mind to that of a person who has total control of their diet and exercise way of life. It may take several hypnosis sessions to implant the new thoughts.

Be especially careful of hypnotists who conduct group sessions because hypnosis should be geared to the individual receiving the suggestions. Everyone is different and at a different stage of receiving suggestions. Each person works on-on-one with a professional to resolve personal issues concerning weight loss. It is also questionable whether hypnosis CDs or videos are effective.

Hypnosis for weight loss appears to be a hassle-free way to eliminate cravings, increase willpower and even make exercise an enjoyable way to lose weight. The most important thing is to research any hypnosis product you may buy or select a hypnosis specialist with a track record for helping others lose weight through hypnosis.
