Lies About Men
You can not open a women's magazine without finding an article that put's men down. It seems that whilst most gossip mags tear women down with unrealistic images of beauty, they appear to build them straight up again by showing them how stupid men are.
Most of the bad things you will ever hear, that is, all the generalizations about men are wrong and dishonest. The problem is that these influences really are starting to take root in our culture and heavily affect the views both women and men have of men.
I would like to take a brief moment and point out to you why so much of what you hear is, well....utter garbage!
Movie Stereotypes
Everywhere you look there's the latest movie with a ton of evil henchmen doing their evil male master's bidding. Throw in a couple of stereotyped blonde bombshells and you've got the sexist stereotype trifecta.
It affects men and women both, but no doubt you'll hear a feminist explanation for every female stereotype attacked, but how about the men? You can not watch an action film where the evil is men. By doing this each and every time it build a cultural momentum in thinking that project men as ebing the harbingers of all that is evil.
It's a shame, but it keep on coming.
The movie industry is rife with male stereotypes, typically a mad man, a couple of hundred evil henchmen and the team of 3-4 good guys trying to stop them.
That rate of heroines to female villains is so much more disproportionate making men seem misrepresented.
Okay, we can see through a movie right? It's not going to skew the way we think right?
What About Reality?
Talk about a topsy turvy representation of reality. The problem is that people watch on average 37 movies per year. For a 25 old year woman that's nearly a thousand movies she has watched telling her men by and large are evil and there are only a few good ones left.

That's quite a lot of heavy handed hypnotism for anybody and it's naive to think something wouldn't take root and make an impression
A thousand movies telling each female that there are but a few good men, but there are evil men at every corner who would rape, assault and control you given the chance.
Unfortunately this couldn't be further from the truth as there are very few evil overlords in the world as of my last check, yet there are many heroic men in the armed services, the police force and fire fighters ready to bravely save lives many times as the expense of their own.
Do we hear constant reverence to the bravery of men?
The silence is deafening. The noise about bad men, however, is pervasive and ubiquitous.
The real good done by the men in these lines of work is far overshadowed and under celebrated compared to the bad few percent of society who cause the trouble.
Men Are Pretty Decent Too You Know
Everywhere you care to look, you'll hear stories of men being pedophiles, murderers and rapists, even to the point where many women wouldn't trust a man around their children. A British air travel company even brought in a policy whereby a child under a certain age was not to be seated next to a man.
Blatantly assuming that men are dangerous.
Can you believe this?
What sort of hysterical madness is rising through the ranks to make this kind of prejudice acceptable.
Could you imagine a policy in western society that refused women to be allowed to drive without a male driver due to the whole "women drivers" stereotype. Not likely..and rightfully so.
Yet men are allowed to be painted as generally evil and thus considered by default to be so.
Women are 50% times more likely to murder their children than men, but they are considered fine to sit next to kids on a plane because people watch too much television.
That simply means women more women murder children, but that doesn't mean all women are child murderers.
That's a pretty close summation of things in my opinion, you are free to disagree.
Current Acceptable Behavior
Prejudice generally is the act of judging some one by the actions of some one else whom with they share a commonality. It could be race, gender, religion or profession.
There are certain races, religions and genders which are fair game. You can make fun of them, but if the joke was reversed then the laughing stops.
More than ever does this apply to men.
Maybe I should just get a sense of humor, but then I could say the exact same to every one else who complains when it's their turn.
One thing I'm pretty clear on is I think we either all get a sense of humor, or we all get upset at every little thing that could be deemed offensive. I'd really prefer the former over the latter.
In Conclusion
We are not going to stop watching movies anytime soon, in fact I enjoy the escapism immensely, but I don't come away thinking the government is all conspiring, all business people are evil and women are blonde bimbos.
Hopefully others will realize that the men in the movies aren't representative of reality and the next time you meet an evil henchman, ask him about his day and maybe you'll be surprised at the answer.
Henchmen are people too.
