Biggest Writing Mistakes
Most of us have watched our own writing styles evolve through the age old trial and error process. This is a long and hard journey, which need not be quite the learning curve that it once was.
For a start, it is prudent to take heed at the mistakes made by those who have gone before us and where ever possible to learn from those mistakes of others.
If you're are writer or at the least aspiring to become one of note in the online world you would be wise to learn the smart way not the hard way.
Let's take a look at some of the big mistakes we should try to avoid...
Poor Topic
One of the biggest writing mistakes most writers fall into is the wrong topic. If you want to write on a particular subject then you'd better be writing about a topic that someone somewhere actually wants to read about. Blue Carrot Gator Dogs are not in high supply!
If you wrote the best article in the world and no one read it - Would you have wasted your time? Probably. Luckily all writing is good practice in a way and you will get quicker and better with time, but as long as you remain obscure, you won't make a dime from your efforts.
Keyword research is the catalyst for views in the online world and the smartest writers know exactly what people are looking for and they give it to them.
Finding a subject that is being searched for and yet yields few results will always be a great topic to attack with energy. How you make money from your writing is up to you, be it paid links, affiliate promo, adsense or any other of the multiple income sources online.
Overblown - Shrink It Down, I Have A Life!
Another big mistake a lot of writers make to is long over blown articles.
You don't need 5000 words to make an impression and get your information across. In fact if you take to long it may show your inability to be concise and succinct. Get to the point fast, make it count and end while your still interesting. Don't babble on and go of topic or to in depth, it's the death knell of good text.
Gramma - I Mean Grammar
The absolute worst mistake a writer can make is to be out of the grammatical zone. This means your spelling and punctuation should be immaculate, but in the same breath you should keep a little colloquialism on hand to show you are human and actually have a personality. Don't make spelling mistakes, but you can strrrrrecth it rules from time to time, especially will punctuation...to make text...LIVE
Using html can really add something to the life of text. Have you ever read a page that was a thousand words, no bold or italics and no paragraph spacing? Well, if you have, the chances are that you didn't want to right?
So, let us reiterate the key points (this is something you should always do)
The WOW! Factor
Pick An Interesting Topic - Both for you and your reader
Done!
Keep The Page As Brief As You Can To Get Your Point Across - Between 750 and 1500 words is usually good
Get It Write...Right!
Use Good Grammar - Get the spelling right, but use punctuation and html to breathe life into text
If you follow these keys and love the topics you write about the ideas will flow and the page will fill up with a great article in no time. Make the most out of what you know and make it interesting for everyone else.
Write often and enjoy doing it, if you don't it can be the worst sentence of all. Pun not intended!
