Retain Some Information For A Change

These Easy Memory Tips will help you to take little actions that can result in huge memory improvements that will benefit you in almost every aspect of life.

Apply a couple of these tips every day and you should start to see an improvement in your ability to recall and retain information in your first week.

Let's start with some straight away while your ready and willing...

Easy Memory Tips

1. Train Your Brain

Use your mind. If you spend some time each day reading, doing puzzles and performing mental tasks you will sharpen up your mental abilities and create a better memory.

2. Target Your Memory Specifically

In addition to general mental enhancement, be sure to perform specific exercises for your memory. These exercises can target your recall and retention.

3. Eat Brain Foods

Compliment your brain with foods that will increase your cerebral achievement. These brain foods should form a reasonable part of your diet to ensure you can reach your ideal memory performance.

4. Avoid IQ Barriers

These brain blockers will prevent you from reaching your maximum memory potential so be sure to eliminate the IQ Barriers from your life.

5. Self Belief

You must believe that you are genuinely able to enhance your memory function or you simply won't put in the necessary effort required to create a sharp, focused memory.

6. Test Your Progress

Be sure to test your progress, but be kind to yourself and don't expect miracles. If you are consistently putting in the time and effort, then you will succeed in creating a better memory. Use these memory tips and the memory exercises frequently and monitor your improvement.

7. Listen To Music

Music can be an instrumental solution (no pun intended) for achieving a better memory. Have music going when ever you can and learn the lyrics to songs. People often find that they can learn song lyrics with ease, even when they haven't got the best memory. Train your memory with song lyrics by learning the words and creating an environment of frequent recollection. This memory tip is very useful and easy to apply.

8. Relax

Relax - the memory works best in a gentle relaxed state.

How many times have you seen a quiz show contestant forget vital information when the pressure was on. Relaxation can alleviate mental barriers and make the recollection process far easier, so learn to calm yourself during times of intensity.

9. Learn Mnemonics

Pronounced nemonix this system is useful for student learning various pieces of information. Schools have being teaching mnemonics for decades. An example of mnemonics is the guitar chords e,g,b,d,f - to remember these a person might learn the phrase :
Every, Good, Boy, Deserves, Fudge - e,g,b,d & f.

10. Incorporate Your Senses

The vivid environment plays a large role in our ability to store information and remember it. Use your senses to describe all the perceptions you feel whilst trying to remember something.

You may need to remember to purchase coffee and milk, so you could imagine the rich golden brown color of coffee and the pungent aroma that enlivens you, for milk you could think of the silky white color and the smooth creamy taste.

By incorporating as many senses as you can you create a more vivid and easy to remember indentation on your mind.

11. Cross Wire Information

Build mental networks in your mind by cross referencing information.

By taking two items of information and focusing on what they have in common you create a system whereas when you recall one item you can actually remember another item with ease.

An example of the cross wire might be when you need to buy bread and peanut butter, when you get to the store and remember the bread, the peanut butter is easy to recall because of the relation it has to bread i.e you can spread peanut butter on bread.

12. Use Emotional Attachment

Add an emotional twist to inanimate information by applying a feeling to the process. An example of this would be when you need to buy grapes and butter, you could think of the romantic notion of feeding grapes to a lover and then with butter you can think of a happy child hood memory of making your favorite sandwich using butter. Emotions help create vividness and thereby assist recollection.

13. Make Your Own Acronyms

An acronym is a sentence made into a word just like S.A.A.D - pronounced "sad" is an acronym for students against drunken driving. You may have a sentence to remember, so you could make up your own acronym.

You may need to remember Sammy always likes green tea, so you may create S.T.A.G - Sammy's tea is always green. It can be useful for little mundane items that you may have trouble creating a vivid image for.

14. Take An Interest

It is far easier to actively learn and recall information which interests you. Find out what you like about a topic and learn that first, this can create further enticement and make learning not only easier but sometimes fun.

15. Eliminate Distractions

To retain information or to recall information you can't have an environment beset with distractions.

Take care to eliminate those things which may cause you to deviate from your ability to perform your best possible memory functions. Don't try to learn or recite a famous phrase or quote when you have the T.V or radio blaring.

*Worthy of note is that without proper hydration your memory can struggle and you won't be running at full capacity. Be sure to consume 8-10 glasses of water per day to keep hydrated and at full cognitive function.

In Conclusion

These memory tips can help you to increase your memory power and enhance your day to day intellectual performance. You can practice these solutions at your own pace and monitor your exciting progress as you build a better memory.
