Critical Thinking Defined.....Strap your self in and have a highly caffeinated beverage for this , because it will require some serious mind power and focus to get your head around this one.

The good news is that once you grasp the concept of critical thinking and the powerful advantage you get form being able to make the most strategic, filtered and accurate judgments, your whole world will seem to open up in front of your very eyes.

To Define critical thinking is not an easy process and in part, you must learn some degree of the structure and application of this important, contextual and intellectual method of information evaluation.

The most simple way I've ever heard someone define critical thinking was as information filtering and I like that idea. The concept that it is just a way to filter the truth from the untrue is perfect.

To Understand The Definition Of Critical Thinking - First Understand The Use

Critical thinking can be used to make value deductions against the information provided. By using the skills involved in critical thinking correctly, you are able to view all data, statistics, values and figures, then you can make the absolute best analysis humanly possible.

This places you at the top of the intellectual spectrum. Not for the purposes of intellectual snobbery, but for the ability of seeing what is real and what is not. This is underrated at best.

To make the most accurate interpretation you must put the information you receive through the critical thinking filter.

Understand The Benefits

Those who can master this critique are far less likely to be duped, fooled, tricked, sucker, swindled or shafted.

Basically those who master the critical filter can't be deceived by information alone. To have this mental agility is like having a power of irreplaceable value - Can you put a price on knowledge?

You simply can't deceive someone with a solid critical thinking education.

Who doesn't want to be able to slice through tricky problems and solve them with the brute force of subtle logic.

Definition Of Critical Thinking

Primarily, it is thought of for the specific use of problem solving, but in reality this critique application is usable for any process of thought whatsoever. Any evaluation made without the critical analysis that this process involves will lack the superior conclusion that a critically filtered evaluation would provide.

The critical thinking process is the ultimate information filtering process. By overcoming your learned, emotional and environmental bias you can produce the most accurate intellectual judgments possible.

The emotional human state, distorts reality, logic and fact and as such diminishes our capacity to make objective evaluations.

So, you could say the true definition of critical thinking is filtering information in the absence of emotional barriers.

That's the very simple critical thinking definition, to understand the process, you must learn the various componentry that makes up this thinking process.

Fact Versus Fiction

To think critically one must possess both the control of one's emotional/environmental bias as well as the directive to only deal with fact as a motive for comprehension. Fiction is the result of those things that do not fit within the parameters of fact and are filtered out through the critiquing process.

The critical thinking process can separate fact from fiction using the purity of the process.

The Power Of Critical Thinking

The ability to evaluate something comes naturally for everybody, but the accuracy of said skill is a wide ranging factor indeed. To look at a set of data, a situation or a principle and to make the right evaluation is a power that most people don not have, but would find immense value in undoubtedly.

High-logic critical thinking puts the fact back in objectivity and removes emotional bias from what would otherwise be subjective analysis.

Most people do not get brought up with your grounded critical thinking education, instead they are taught subjectivity and that has it's purpose, but it's usually at the expense of the critical thinking process.

In Conclusion

While the subject of critical thinking education may confuse some, the need to learn the key elements using examples and exercises will clear up any quandary associated with the term.

I hope your elementary critical thinking questions are cleared up now.

To clearly define critical thinking we need to know why it works and that it is primarily a filtering of information and although it is complex, it is also simple in it's effectiveness.
