If oxygen is life then the importance of learning how to breathe properly is absolute. Breathing exercises can help us gain much needed vitality and vigor.
Lack of oxygen robs us of energy and leads to fatigue, sleep loss, and low mental focus, so improving your breathing technique is crucial if you have breathing issues.
A simple Deep Breathing Exercise can help us feel so much better.
Follow these deep breathing exercises and improve your oxygen intake.
1. Abdominal Breathing.
Most people breath from their chest in an incomplete, shallow manner.
This exercise is to enhance your abdominal inhalation, thus filling the lower parts of the lungs with much needed oxygen. By placing your hand on your stomach and lying down flat on your back, breathe deep into your tummy and slowly release the air back out.
As you repeat with deep breaths your hand should rise higher and higher as your lung capacity increase. With more practice you should be able to increase your oxygen intake with good results.
2. Utilize The Cat Stretch.
This stretching technique is wonderful for developing powerful breathing. Kneeling on all fours looking straight ahead take a deep breath, then as you exhale in a powerful yet controlled manner lean your body forward until your chin is only inches from the ground, keeping your head facing forward at all times.
As you take another deep breath return to the starting position slowly and repeat as you please.
3. Pursed Lips Breathing.
Standing, hands on hips looking upwards, breathe in deep into the stomach only through the nose as you lower your head. Once your lungs are full and your head is nodding downwards, purse your lips tight and exhale powerfully blowing through your lips, bring your head right up high.
This can make you a little dizzy, but it really is great for strengthening the lungs and teaching the habit of breathing well.
4. Dragon Fire.
This works your abdominal muscles, your whole body and increases lung capacity. Standing relaxed, clench your your muscles in your body tight except the abdominals and take in a mighty breath, now relax all your muscles, squeeze your abdominals tight and exhale as if your were trying to topple another person over. Dragon Fire is an excellent method for all round well being.
5. Flying Breaths.
This method is so simple and yet very effective. Stand facing forward and take a deep abdominal and chest filled breath as you raise your arms like wings maintaining flat palms and a straight body, until your arms are high in the air at which point you exhale whilst lowering your arms.
This technique is gentle and relaxing and should be performed in a slow, fluid motion.

6. Meditation Breathing.
To reduce stress knell comfortably with hands on knees and inhale in a slow and controlled manner, you should be able to count to 8 during inhalation. Then exhale out slowly for another slow 8 count while your eyes remain shut.
This calm and controlled manner imparts a relaxed breathing and negates the short sharp breaths that one takes under the influence off stress.
7. Research Breathing Products.
For those with serious breathing problems, you may require medical attention. There are several types of breathing aids available that can significantly improve life for asthmatics and people with sinusitus. If you have breathing difficulties be sure to seek professional advice.
8. Menthol And Eucalyptus.
These two fantastic oils can help decongest your airways and clear the air. The lovely fresh fragrance they emit freshens up any room without nasty chemicals.
9. Air Purifiers.
The air at home can become dusty and stale, air purifiers can create a fresher, cleaner air inside. With a nice clean inside you'll want to take deep breaths not hold your breath.
10. Go Outside And Exercise.
For breathing well nothing can replace good old fashioned outdoor exercise.
Go for a walk, jog, run - it doesn't matter as long as you get some physical activity and you do it outside.
